Route Markings
The pilgrim route to Assisi leads through various different footpaths. From time to time along the journey, one encounters the sign of Tau, the sign of the holy Francis. From La Verna we see more and more of the Tau sign, and from Gubbio until Assisi, the route is clearly marked as The Way of St. Francis.
Condition of the route
The route leads through a very hilly, almost mountainous, landscape. Most of the time, one finds oneself walking through footpaths leading through forests. It is only seldom that we find ourselves walking through streets or roads - something in line with the philosophy of St. Francis of Assisi.
Will I get something to eat and drink every day?
